Bald Eagle at Volunteer Park
My mom’s sharp eyes spotted this handsome fellow perched in a tree near the fish ponds in Volunteer Park. Waiting for koi to venture out from underneath a rock, perhaps?

Look what I found!
As I walked back toward the garage after taking the garbage out, I thought I saw a movement out of the corner of my eye. Right next to the garage is a small mulched bed with a tree in it. I didn't see anything, so I concluded that it must just have been a lizard or a toad or something. But, as I walked into the garage, what to my wondering eyes should appear but this handsome fellow climbing up the garage door frame.
I did some research and it looks like this guy is a Red Rat Snake. Common throughout Florida, they can reach up to about 4 feet in length. This one looked to be about 24 inches. Unfortunately, instead of leaving the garage, he squirmed back under a bag of peat moss. I'm going to leave the door up until I go to bed, and then watch where I step the next few days. They like to climb, so I guess I'd better look up, too, just in case!
