Man, those are some grimy feet!
So tonight at kids' club, we read the story about Jesus washing his disciples' feet. Then we did an exercise with the kids where we had them break into pairs and wash one another's feet using wet wipes. Now I was kind of skeptical about this because, well…it seemed a bit grody.
What surprised and awed me was that the kids really got into it. None of them was the least bit squeamish and most of them devoted their entire attention to it. They were enthusiastic about completing every detail perfectly – some of them were even scrubbing under and around toenails and between toes. It was really neat to see and I got quite choked up just watching them. They didn't really understand the symbolism of what they were doing (they're only 4 or 5, after all) but yet they served one another in perfect obedience.
Can you imagine if all those who serve Christ did so with such passion and dedication?
